Albany Housing Coalition Inc

The Albany Housing Coalition Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Albany, New York, dedicated to ending homelessness among veterans and low-income individuals in the Capital Region.
Established in 1987, the coalition offers a continuum of affordable housing options and specialized case management services to support participants' reintegration and independent living.
Key Services and Programs:
- Sgt. Henry Johnson Veterans House: A 32-bed supportive congregate environment offering private rooms with shared common areas, kitchen, deck, and grounds. Residents work closely with case managers and the VA Homeless Program to address barriers to homelessness, including physical health, mental health, and recovery.
- State Street Residences: Three side-by-side homes in Schenectady providing permanent supportive housing for veterans who have graduated from the transitional program at Veterans House.
- Richard J. Conners Veterans Residence: A 12-bedroom residence offering affordable permanent housing with rent set at no more than 40% of income. Residents have access to a kitchen and receive home-cooked dinners.
- Clinton Avenue Veterans Apartments: Two townhomes being renovated into six units of supportive permanent housing for homeless veterans, with rent-up expected in 2022.
- Contract Housing: Five units of supportive transitional housing assisting veterans in rapidly re-housing into permanent housing in the community.
The coalition also offers support services such as rapid rehousing case management, permanent housing case management, veterans employment and training services, supportive services for veteran families, shelter plus care, and health care navigation.
