Albuquerque Opportunity Center
Basic Information
The Albuquerque Opportunity Center (AOC), located at 715 Candelaria Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107, is a 56-bed emergency shelter operated by Heading Home, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending homelessness in New Mexico.
The AOC provides a safe and supportive environment for men experiencing homelessness, offering essential services such as housing case management, job counseling, and linkage to community resources.
To access shelter services, individuals can call the Intake Line at 505-344-4340 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, or from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. daily. Reservations are handled on a first-come, first-served basis. If the line is busy, it indicates that beds are full; callers are encouraged to try again the following day.
In addition to emergency shelter, the AOC offers a Respite Program in partnership with medical providers. This program provides recovery beds for individuals discharged from hospitals who are not well enough to return to the streets. Referrals to the Respite Program must be made through healthcare providers with an agreement with the AOC.
The AOC is part of Heading Home's comprehensive approach to addressing homelessness, which includes street outreach, emergency housing, and permanent supportive housing services. By providing a range of services, the AOC plays a crucial role in helping individuals transition from homelessness to stable housing and self-sufficiency.
